MCC Welcoming Place

MCC Welcoming Place campusThe Welcoming place is a visitors village on the grounds of the MCC offices at 21 South 12th St., Akron PA.  It includes a conference and meeting center and guest houses.  The Welcoming Place is designed to represent an international village whose buildings reflect the homes, school and churches of MCC’s partner organizations around the world. All buildings are decorated with international crafts from Ten Thousand Villages.

This complex was designed for MCC meetings, service worker orientations, and as a guest facility for visitors.  Each year MCC hosts over 2,000 overnight guests from around the world.  When the center is not in use for MCC meetings, it is available to congregations and individuals.  Uses have included conferences, workshops, retreats, reunions and overnight lodging.

Each of the Welcoming Place’s four guest houses has 11 bedrooms with private baths, and a central gathering place, kitchen, porch and indoor and outdoor fireplaces.  The Meeting Place, the retreat and conference center, has two large assembly rooms that each will accommodate 130 people, as well as several smaller meeting rooms. All facilities are accessible to people with disabilities, and have free wireless Internet access. The Welcoming Place is an alcohol- and smoke-free facility.
