Moving together for peace in Bangladesh

Dancing into community beyond discrimination

These young adults are moving toward peace in their community. In a setting with many people of diverse backgrounds, there is historical and current tension and discrimination between the minority Indigenous populations and the majority Bengali population.

MCC's partner MAASAUS is an Indigenous, nonprofit development organization that serves ethnic minority people in the northern part of Bangladesh. In Rajshahi region, MAASAUS brings Santal people, who are Indigenous and predominantly Christian, together with Hindus and Muslims to participate in peacebuilding initiatives that encourage respect for all religions and ethnicities. The project includes peacebuilding training at schools and in the community as well as cultural festivals that encourage collaboration among different religious and ethnic groups.
