Frequently asked questions

  1. As a potential partner agency, you provide us with a description of the placement you want to offer.
  2. Between January and March we send you the file of a candidate who could fill that position. You will have the opportunity to ask more questions from the applicant or have an online interview before making a decision.
  3. Once you’ve decided you’re interested, we contact the IVEP participant to offer them the position. After the placement is confirmed and visa obtained, the IVEP participant goes to a group orientation in mid-August and then comes to you shortly after. IVEP participants return home in mid-July.

In most cases placements are 40 hours a week, but sometimes we can accommodate half-time positions shared with another worksite.

Partner agencies in the U.S. pay $718 per month:

  • $118 for the IVEP participant (adjusted yearly for COLA)
  • $450 for the host
  • $150 for MCC administrative fees
  • Local cell phone and phone plan
  • Transportation to/from work.

IVEP participants and their hosts are supported by both regional and national coordinators throughout the year. They will be in regular contact to celebrate joys, help with challenges and give suggestions as needed.

During the year IVEP participants attend three, weeklong meetings with MCC: orientation, mid-year conference and year-end conference in addition to several weekend regional retreats.

All partner agencies must:

  • Provide a meaningful work experience in the area of the IVEPer’s experience
  • Arrange transportation for the IVEP participant to and from work
  • Pay the monthly fees above
  • Complete brief monthly reports for MCC
  • Network in your community to find a local host.
