Chickens, fish and veggies – a sustainable relationship

When farmers have a fish pond they can access water to raise vegetables or water for livestock.

Chim Yean started raising fish with the help of MCC partner Organization to Develop Our Villages, ODOV.

ODOV works directly with small-scale farmers in Prey Veng province. The households are engaged in several different household food production and income generation activities, including raising fish and chickens.

When farmers have a fish pond they can access water to raise vegetables or water for livestock. All three, fishponds, vegetable gardens, and livestock, work together to generate income for farmers and support families.
