The statement of principles for the Project of
the New American Century says, “…a Reaganite policy
of military strength…may not be fashionable today. But
it is necessary if the United States is to build on the successes
of this past century and to ensure our security and our greatness
in the next.” The signatories of this statement include
Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz and other politicians.
They believe that the greatness and glory of the United States
is achieved through an aggressive foreign policy, which includes
preemptive war and deadly force.
The prophet Jeremiah (16:20) spoke about false
gods, “Can mortals make for themselves gods? Such are
no gods!” When fifty-percent of our tax dollars go to
feeding the military machine and we use that machine to export
death and destruction to all parts of the world, we have a created
a god – a “false idol.”
