D. Ted served in a a village in Vietnam
During time of war or a military draft, conscientious objectors to war serve with non-profit agencies as an alternative to serving in the armed forces. Conscientious objectors sometimes serve in areas of conflict in an effort to support peace through non-violence. Ted served as a community development worker in Vietnam, but was targeted and killed, presumably by Viet Cong who were suspicious of his activities as an American.
