Our Mission
- To articulate and pursue a Christian pacifist vision for the furthering of peace and justice in international affairs.
- To convey and interpret relevant MCC activities and priorities as shaped by its grassroots knowledge and partnerships to UN agencies, diplomats, and non-governmental organizations.
- To develop focused areas of monitoring and advocacy that reflect MCC commitments and tie into its programming.
- To analyze and convey relevant UN activities and priorities to MCC and its constituency.
- To foster peace and justice commitments and links to MCC among New York City Mennonites.
As a voice at the United Nations for MCC, its global partnerships, and the Mennonite church we:
- Coordinate common agenda with MCC Ottawa and Washington D.C. offices and Mennonite World Conference.
- Form coalitions with other NGOs.
- Brief Mennonite and ecumenical delegations en route to crisis areas.
- Write letters or statements advocating a course of action.
- Host an annual study seminar each October for undergraduate and graduate students.
- Answer questions from constituents concerning matters before UN bodies.
- Make conflict transformation resources more accessible to international agencies.
- Provide one-year internships in connection with Mennonite Voluntary Service and Manhattan Mennonite Fellowship.
