Tools for community-based trauma healing

Community-based trauma healing is responsive to the special needs, norms and traditions of particular communities. Accordingly, it is flexible and supports a wide range of activities and processes. The brief list below is divided into the categories of safety, acknowledgement and reconnection to show how each of these plays a role in healing. It is important to note, however, that these are not sequential steps. Safety, acknowledgement and reconnection are principles of trauma healing that can take place concurrently and overlap and support each other.
