Love in action

Across the United States, MCC workers and MCC-supported churches
reach out to immigrants.

Immigration Education (MCC U.S.) coordinates educational events,
provides resource materials, assists constituents interested in
developing an immigration program and promotes immigration advocacy.
Immigration
Education

Immigration is an important focus for the MCC U.S. Washington Office,
MCC's "voice" in the capital.
MCC does its best immigration work by making it possible for people
to choose to stay home. Through relief, development and peace-building
projects that address the roots of international injustice, MCC
helps to build the economic and political stability that allows
potential migrants to thrive in their own communities.
Recognizing, however, the realities that bring immigrants to the
United States – as well as the richness that immigrants bring
to U.S. churches and communities – MCC U.S. offers resources
to help churches learn about immigrants in their midst, navigate
complex documentation procedures and advocate for better immigration
policies. Service workers provide legal and emotional support to
immigrants.
God reminds the Israelites in the wilderness to care for the migrants
in their midst, especially once they’re established in the
promised land: “You shall love the stranger as yourself, for
you were strangers in the land of Egypt” (Leviticus 19:34).
Jesus tells his followers that when they welcome strangers, it’s
as if they’ve welcomed him (Matthew 25:35).
