Immigration is an important focus for the MCC
U.S. Washington Office, MCC's "voice" in
the capital. Service workers and partner agencies report that immigrant
communities across the country have been beleaguered since Sept.
11, 2001, by U.S. policies enforced in the name of the “war
on terrorism.”
In that light, the Washington Office monitors the development
of homeland security legislation in addition to supporting policies
that
1) allow immigrants to legally choose between
temporary work or permanent residence in the U.S., and
2) ensure that immigrants receive fair compensation and
equal benefits.
