Nigeria - The Doctors’ Diary
Nathan
and Rochele Beachy are family doctors in Cleveland, Ohio. From July
to December 2003, they're serving with MCC in central Nigeria at
Faith Alive Clinic.
Located in Jos, a bustling city of 2 million, the clinic provides
free medical care and specializes in ministering to people with
AIDS.
The Beachys served a previous term in Nigeria from
1991 to 1993, when clinics were just beginning to test for AIDS.
Now some 3.5 million Nigerians are estimated to be HIV-positive,
one of the highest numbers of any country in the world.

Faith Alive Clinic
This free clinic in Jos, Nigeria, was founded in 1996 by Dr.
Chris Isichei and his wife, Mercy, a surgeon, and other Nigerian
doctors seeking to live out Jesus' love.
Most important, the clinic offers support
and love for those who test positive for HIV. They are welcomed
into a support group and encouraged to share their stories
with others.
