Building Cleon Conley's Ramp
SWAP Ministry Needs
It takes many resources to provide safe, warm & dry housing,
and sometimes we have to exceed our budget to finish the project. The materials needed to
build Cleon Conley's deck (see the picture above)and ramp cost a great deal, but it was worth it!
After being confined inside his home--his father and older brother died several years ago--Mr.
Conley is now able to spend time outside, enjoying the outdoors and exercising on his new ramp.
Here are a few of the many ways you can help:
- Use a trailer to bring tools, materials, and supplies with you.
- Donate a gift certificate or gift card from a local retailer in Appalachia. Each SWAP
location deals with local building supply stores, and supporting them as you help SWAP is a wonderful
way to make a difference.
- Bring donations (tools, materials, or gift cards) from retailers in your neighborhood. Many building supply stores have surplus
items in stock that they are happy to give to worthy cause, and SWAP can provide tax receipts for charitable donations.
- Encourage others in your congregation or community to make a donation. Often the groups that
get the most out of their SWAP experience are the ones who develop their SWAP trip into a community-based
ministry effort.
And now for the wish list...
