Nineteen workers begin leadership assignments with MCC

AKRON, Pa. – Nineteen workers were commissioned for service after participating in a leadership orientation at Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) offices in Akron, Pa., June 9-26. Three are serving in Canada or the United States, and 16 are serving in other countries.

MCC is a relief, development and peace organization of Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches in Canada and the United States. MCC staff usually work in partnership with local churches and community organizations.  Each year some 300 people begin MCC assignments.  Currently there are 1,165 workers in 50 countries.  For more information on MCC, visit mcc.org.


Participants beginning overseas assignments

Annie and Jean Victor Brosseau of Deux-Montagnes, Q.C., are beginning an assignment in Germany as representatives for Western Europe. The couple attends Elise Chrétienne Evangélique de St Eustache and previously served with MCC in Montreal.

Gloria Chacón and Mark Epp of Costa Rica, along with their children, Brenna, Nichole and Raquel, are beginning an assignment in Brazil as country representatives. Chacón and Epp previously served with MCC in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. They attend Menonita Rey de Gloria.

Lam Cosmas of Kampala, Uganda, is beginning an assignment in Uganda as East Africa regional peace networker. Cosmas attends St. Balikuddembe Catholic Church.

Helen Davis of New Providence, N.J., is beginning an assignment in Honduras as associate director for Latin America and the Caribbean. She is a member of Grace Baptist Church of Blue Bell, Pa.

Kurt Hildebrand of Medford, Ore., is beginning an assignment in Haiti as country representative. He attends Seattle Mennonite Church.

Eduard Klassen of Filadelfia, Paraguay, is beginning an assignment in Paraguay as associate director for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Angela and Mark Sprunger of Lancaster, Pa., along with their children, Daniel and David, are beginning an assignment in Nigeria. Mark will serve as associate director for central and west Africa, and Angela's role will be determined after arrival. Angela and Mark previously served with MCC in Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Burkina Faso. Mark also worked in the MCC offices in Akron. The family attends James Street Mennonite Church.

Amgad and Dulcy Tadros, along with their children, Suzy and Sarah, are beginning an assignment as interim representatives in Egypt. The couple previously served with MCC in Egypt and at the MCC offices in Winnipeg, Man.

Amber and Benjamin Younan, along with their son, Aidan, are beginning an assignment in Syria as program administrators. Amber and Benjamin previously served with MCC in Egypt.

Amy and Andres Zorrilla of Ephrata, Pa., along with their children, Beatrice and Abigail, are beginning an assignment in Honduras as country representatives. Andres and Amy previously served with MCC in Bolivia and in the MCC offices in Akron. They attend Akron Mennonite Church.


Participants beginning assignments in Canada and the United States

Timothy Croyle of Goshen, Ind., is beginning an assignment in Indiana as human resources director for MCC U.S.

Ilda da Silva Storie of Winnipeg is beginning an assignment in Winnipeg as director of human resources for MCC Canada.

Alain Epp Weaver of Lancaster, Pa., is beginning an assignment in Akron as director of the Program Development Department. Weaver previously served with MCC in Palestine/Israel and Jordan.
