The Dwight Moody Wiebe Endowment FundThe Dwight Moody Wiebe Endowment Fund is available to former Mennonite Central Committee volunteers who are enrolled in graduate programs.
HistoryThe scholarship was established by Margot Wiebe of Dallas, Texas, in memory of her husband, Dwight Moody Wiebe, who died in January 2000. Dwight Wiebe served with MCC during the 1950s, including four years as Europe director of MCC's Pax program for alternative military service. During the Korean War, Wiebe acted as a group leader for about 150 conscientious objectors in the Chicago area. Following his work with MCC, he served for 15 years as Christian Service Director for the Mennonite Brethren Board of Missions/Services in Hillsboro, Kan. Through this work Wiebe helped many Mennonite young adults find meaningful voluntary service assignments. Wiebe had a life-long love of education and held degrees from Taylor University, Upland, Ind.; Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind.; and Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kan.
