Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Christian church organizations have multiplied in Russia. A grant from MCC's Generations at Risk program allowed one such group, the Brotherhood of Compassion, to provide life support to babies at risk of AIDS in a Moscow hospital. In the area of education, an MCC worker has taught short-term Christian education courses.

Relief

The need for material aid shipments to Russia's North Caucasus region has grown in recent years. A local MCC partner was able to distribute kits and other material aid to those people displaced by the on-going Chechen conflict.
