Dates

April 29 - May 4

Southern Ontario to Weenuck First Nation

June 15-22

Weenusk Youth to Southern Ontario

On Thursday, April 29, twelve young people from Southern Ontario soared to the fly-in community of Weenusk First Nation, on the tip of Hudson's Bay in the heart of polar-bear country. It is in this village of approximately 200 people, that southern participants were introduced to the very warm hospitality that is part of the traditional Cree Culture of this community.

Then, on June, 12, the southern partipants had the unique opportunity of welcoming their twins as Weenusk youth traveled south for a week in Southern Ontario. They got a glimpse of the rich and diverse culture that is part of the Mennonite Community.

This cross-cultural learning exchange was a joint adventure of the YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada, Weenusk First Nation, Mennonite Central Committee Ontario (MCCO) and the Mennonite Church Eastern Canada (MCEC).

Coordinators
Joanne Reinhold (YMCA)
Gloria Hunter (Peawanuck)
