A Brief Overview of Enlace 2008For the first 10 days of our time in Guatemala our group will be hosted by the Central America Study and Service (CASAS) program in the nation's capital, Guatemala City . CASAS offers a rich cross-cultural experience with language and cultural studies. Possible activities include visiting Mayan archeological sites, colorful markets, human rights organizations and development agencies. There is also the opportunity to meet local Central Americans who are struggling with complex economic, political, social problems.
Traveling from the capital city into rural Guatemala, the Enlace program will take participants throughout the country to villages of predominately indigenous Maya people. For a period of about 3 weeks, MCC Guatemala will facilitate a life-shaping and transformative learning experience with service projects and the opportunity to form relationships with people that we will connect throughout the month. More details to follow.
