AIDS Caregiver kits

 

Thousands of home care volunteers provide comfort every day to people living with HIV and AIDS. You can help them by filling an AIDS care kit.
 
Contents (NEW items only)
  • 2 large bars bath soap (in wrapper)
  • 2 large bars laundry soap (Some stores carry Fels Naptha ®, Sunlight ® or Zote ® brands.)
  • 2 hand-sized towels (medium weight, bright color) (approx. 46 cm x 61 cm/ 18 in x 24 in)
  • 1 set twin bed sheets with pillowcase (one flat sheet, one fitted sheet, one standard pillowcase) (option: 2 twin flat sheets, one standard pillowcase)
  • 1 moisture-proof mattress cover (twin-size; fitted or flat)
  • 1 box disposable rubber gloves
    (100-count; medium or large size; latex free) 
  • 1 container petroleum jelly
    (approx. 368 g / 13 oz; sealed in plastic bag)
  • 1 container medicated body powder
    (e.g., Gold Bond; approx. 283 g / 10 oz)
  • 1 box adhesive bandages (minimum 40; assorted)
  • 1 fingernail clipper (good quality)
  • 5 squeeze-tube toothpastes
    (approx. 130 ml / 6 oz; leave in box)
  • 5 toothbrushes (adult size; leave in wrapper)
  • $100 to purchase medicines for people living with AIDS, to train volunteers in basic home health care, and to provide food and travel allowances for volunteers. (Check to “MCC – AIDS Caregiver Kit”)
  • Include 40.6cm x 56 cm / 16 in x 22 in cloth drawstring shoulder bag. You may sew the bag yourself, request bags from an MCC collection center. Instructions for making bags are available here.

Place contents in a box or bag and deliver to one of the drop-off locations in Canada or the U.S. The kit will be re-packed in a new 5-gallon plastic pail with lid.
