Concluding Comments from MCC Leaders
Closing Statement
By Albert C. Lobe
- Mr. President, we need you to acknowledge publicly the tremendous suffering of the Jewish people before and during World War II.
- We need robust exchanges of theologians, of religious leaders, of young people. Send us 20 of your best and brightest young women and men for a year in our colleges and communities, students like Maryam, your young artist. The school of 400 in Kitchener sees Iran differently today! Exchanges at all levels are the most creative peace initiatives we have. We are ready; we know that exchange programs humanize, build confidence and understanding.
- These small gifts represent our appreciation for this dialogue and are reminders to us all to work for peace. The book is for you, a grandfather, to read to your grandchildren. Let’s Plant a Garden is written and illustrated by our daughter in law, whose father is Palestinian. This gold dove is a gift I received from a dear friend. A true gift must be in constant motion, moving to the person who needs it most. We give it to you with encouragement for you to work for peace.

Mr. President, your mantle is heavy and how you wear it at this time is critical. Please be assured of our prayers.
