In Durban, South Africa, the Children Garden Center is an educational and care facility for young children under the age of 7 from impoverished homes in the inner city. It is run by the Union of Refugee Women, a community-based organization of refugee women mostly from Rwanda, Burundi and Congo, who have been working with the MCC Refugee Project in Durban since 2001. Global Family funds help to pay fees for children attending the Center, the salary for a qualified preschool educator, nutritious food for the children, training for staff as well as educational resources to the center.
