A view of the Cazucá neighbourhood where sponsored students live. ColombiaEducation Brings Hope projectIn 2002, Mennonite Brethren churches in Colombia opened the Education Brings Hope ministry in Cazucá, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Bogotá. People in Cazucá have been forced by one of the armed groups to leave everything behind in their homes in the countryside. Many children suffer from malnutrition and respiratory problems due to the poor environmental conditions. The activity of illegal armed groups and "social cleansing" squads in Cazucá has generated intense fear among the people living there. Approximately 66% of the children and youth in Cazucá do not have access to education. Through Education Brings Hope, the MB churches support 70 children in their education. Global Family pays a portion of their fees, and provides school supplies and a snack.
