Children enjoy the project activities BrazilProjeto CriancaJanga Children's Project is an initiative of the Janga Mennonite Church to improve the quality of life for a neighborhood in one of the many "favelas" (slums) of Recife. Begun as a Vacation Bible School program offering healthy alternative activities to children when not in school, the project has grown to serve children daily: 3 hours each day, five days a week. They participate in a variety of activities including art, music, games, and tutoring, and they receive a nutritious snack. Global Family funds help pay the teachers and coordinators (who had been volunteering) a small fee for their work.
