MozambiqueMachanga Girls' ResidenceThe girls in Machanga District, Sofala Province, Mozambique, have a hard time getting an education beyond grade five. The whole district has only three upper primary schools which provide grades six and seven. Machanga has a secondary school, the only one in the district, and a dormitory for boys. There hadn’t been a dormitory for girls at all until the United Church of Christ built one in 2002. Global Family covers tuition costs, school supplies, and other essentials for 24 girls studying and living at the secondary school.
