Hope Community Center

Hope Community Center is a home for children who have been orphaned or abandoned and were formerly living in the streets. There is a stigma associated with children who have lived on the streets. So acceptance in school becomes more difficult for them. The common belief is that children who lived on the streets “may have acquired bad habits.” Lucy Gacheru, who began Hope Community Center, realized in 1994 that she was called to address the needs of these children. As she says, "I had a dream to help other needy children like me and show them that God cares and has a plan for them.” Global Family funds help to feed 173 children currently living at Hope Community Center.
