Building understanding between faiths

Conflict between communities of different faith traditions impacts many people’s lives at local and national levels. As tensions between Christians and Muslims rise in many parts of the world, MCC is working to bring people together to build connections of dialogue and understanding.

In Lebanon, MCC has worked since 1995 with the Imam Sadr Foundation, a Shiite Muslim organization that assists orphans, low-income women and other people in need regardless of their religion.

This 11-year relationship enabled MCC to partner in the foundation’s response to last year’s war between Hezbollah and Israel in southern Lebanon. The foundation distributed MCC-donated blankets, health kits, relief kits and school kits to families in Lebanon whose homes were destroyed in the violence. MCC also supported mobile health clinics to provide care for those injured.

If contributions to a project exceed the amount needed, MCC will use the donations to support similar projects.
