from the

Project poster (PDF) CanadaOpening eyes, transforming livesWalking on Canadian streets with the poor and disadvantaged can be a lesson for life. In booming Calgary, an estimated 3,500 people live on the streets. Many are emotionally unable to hold a job. Some have jobs but the cost of living in Calgary is so high, they cannot rent a room. CASA is an MCC-organized learning experience for young people to come to Calgary for up to one week with organizations helping people living on the edge. The purpose is to experience the realities in which many people around the world live and to promote the idea of service among young people. In other provinces, MCC has similar programs. Help open eyes and transform lives. $22 will sponsor one young person, for one day, to learn about poverty, service and compassion through the CASA program $45 covers the cost of an honorarium for a leader taking five people on a Street Walk in Toronto as part of MCC Ontarios TOOLS program $90 helps cover the costs of leading two youth groups on an Urban Plunge into Winnipegs inner city If contributions to a project exceed the amount needed, MCC will use the donations to support similar projects. |
