Every generous act of giving, with every
perfect gift, is
from above,
coming down
from the
Father of lights.

Project poster (PDF) CanadaA summer of serviceSung-eun (Mary) Kim calls her church "a snapshot of heaven a place where people from all cultures feel welcomed." This past summer Kim was a member of Summerbridge, MCCs Canada-wide summer service program. The program is for people attending a Mennonite congregation of diverse cultural background, such as Hispanic, Indo-Canadian, Francophone or Laotian. Summerbridge enabled Kim and 16 others to work in church ministries in their home communities for eight to 17 weeks. One of Kims responsibilities was developing and conducting a community survey to identify needs in her churchs neighborhood in Surrey, B.C. This door-to-door survey will help the church develop ministries that meet real needs in the community and build relationships between the church congregation and community. Your support will help churches of diverse cultural backgrounds thrive as they seek to serve others. $53 will help cover the cost of one Summerbridge participant to work in his or her local church for one week $89 will help cover the travel expenses for one Summerbridge participant to attend the annual conference in Winnipeg $354 will help assist one Summerbridge participant in continuing his or her education If contributions to a project exceed the amount needed, MCC will use the donations to support similar projects. |
