Project poster (PDF) EducationBangladesh School suppliesFarmers in rural Bangladesh often struggle to provide food, clothing and housing for their families. Expenses such as school uniforms and school supplies may put education out of reach for a family. Most rural schools have very limited supplies for students. MCC donates more than 15,000 school kits a year to needy primary school students in Bangladesh and always receives requests for more. Kits contain notebooks, pencils or pens, an eraser, a ruler and a cloth school bag. While MCC ships tens of thousands of school kits abroad from the United States and Canada each year, high import taxes make it more feasible to purchase supplies for these kits in Bangladesh. That also provides support for the local economy. Children proudly carry their bags with them to school and use their supplies with care. Your gift helps a child on the journey toward a brighter future. $20 buys enough supplies for 10 school kits (each kit helps one child in Bangladesh attend school for one year) If contributions to a project exceed the amount needed, MCC will use the donations to support similar projects. |
