Every generous act of giving, with every
perfect gift, is
from above,
coming down
from the
Father of lights.

Project poster (PDF) JobNigeria Plateau School for the DeafThe Plateau School for the Deaf in Jos, Nigeria, is one of the few facilities in the country equipped to meet the needs of children who are deaf. The school serves 330 students from grades one through 12, and an important part of its mission is to prepare students for life in their communities. Counseling, job training and after-graduation follow-up help give students the tools they need to succeed. An MCC worker holds income generation workshops for Grade 12 students and graduates of the school and visits with adults who are deaf and their employers. The worker also helps connect those who are deaf with job leads and opportunities. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), some 80 percent of people who are deaf or hard of hearing live in poorer countries. Those who live in poverty are less able to afford the preventive and routine medical care that may be needed to avoid hearing loss or to afford hearing aids. Your gift helps students build a brighter future. $25 is the cost for a student to attend an income generation workshop (includes transportation, manuals and writing materials) $25 covers transportation costs for an MCC worker to visit and provide workplace counsel to those who are deaf or hard of hearing, their employers and families If contributions to a project exceed the amount needed, MCC will use the donations to support similar projects. |
