Every generous act of giving, with every
perfect gift, is
from above,
coming down
from the
Father of lights.

Project poster (PDF) HealthEl Salvador Overcoming traumaA few years ago, Pablo Perez and his family earned extra money by selling fireworks during the Christmas season. One day, some firecrackers exploded, severely burning his wife Nohemy and his daughter Aracely. Their faces were deformed and scarred from the accident. Although they could not pay for plastic surgery, family members were interested in gaining new tools to deal with the pain and trauma of the situation. After being introduced to ANAES, a group supported by MCC that provides a number of mental health services, the family has moved toward healing emotionally. Their recovery and courage have become an example to the rest of their community. More than 60 families from marginalized neighborhoods in El Salvador are recovering from war, social violence and other kinds of trauma by participating in the mental health and conflict transformation project run by ANAES. $106 provides the services of a social worker for one week at ANAES If contributions to a project exceed the amount needed, MCC will use the donations to support similar projects. |
