Every generous act of giving, with every
perfect gift, is
from above,
coming down
from the
Father of lights.

Project poster (PDF) United StatesEast Coast Overcoming conflictTension between African Americans and Korean Americans in Washington, D.C., has prompted a pastor and the organization he founded to try to work toward better relations between the groups. MCC is supporting the effort led by Rev. San Jin Choi of Action for Peace through Prayer and Aid (APPA), a Korean Anabaptist organization that serves the poor and helps overcome conflict in the community. He said he wants to counteract stereotypes that Korean-American small business owners profit from the community but give little in return. In response, his organization helps meet basic needs for the hungry and homeless with emergency food and clothing. APPA also provides family counseling and job training to low-income families. In an effort to develop healthy relationships among members of the diverse community, APPA provides workshops on conflict resolution and facilitates disputes among community members. Your contribution supports an MCC workers efforts within the project. $42 supports the worker for one day If contributions to a project exceed the amount needed, MCC will use the donations to support similar projects. |
