Every generous act of giving, with every
perfect gift, is
from above,
coming down
from the
Father of lights.

Project poster (PDF) EducationSyria Educating Christian leadersAlthough most people in Syria are Muslim, the country is also home to some of the worlds oldest Christian communities. Many Christians throughout Syria express their faith by caring for orphans, people with disabilities, poor families and other people in need in their communities. However, due to economic and political uncertainties, many Syrian Christians are choosing to emigrate, threatening the future of the church. When Father Tony Kasih, a Syrian priest, was a teenager, he applied to emigrate to the United States. But after his visa was denied, he felt it was a clear signal to follow a call to the priesthood. Father Kasih, who studied at St. Ephrems Seminary, now serves at St. Georges Church in Zaidal, leading services in Syriac, an ancient language similar to the one spoken by Jesus. Your gift will help MCC support St. Ephrems Seminary, which trains future leaders of the Syrian Orthodox Church and helps to keep the church strong and able to reach out in local communities. $10 buys a set of English books for one student at St. Ephrems Seminary If contributions to a project exceed the amount needed, MCC will use the donations to support similar projects. |
