When the villagers of Gundeumedu and the half dozen other villages MCC and its south India partner, SUCHI are working with talked about what they needed to begin rebuilding their lives, in addition to basic needs being met, they asked for playgrounds for the children. They said the children think only of the tsunami and a playground would act as trauma healing. In the village of Nochikadu, the playground, constructed by the villagers, was opened on March 18.
