Mansoor Esmail Adam, a 20-year-old student, fled to Kalma camp with his grandfather and sisters after their village, Bendies, was destroyed Aug. 8. He says the government security forces that are stationed at the camps and main roads are simply Janjaweed with uniforms — an accusation human rights groups are also making. “Some of them — more than 1,000 — they searched all these houses here,” Adam says. “They apprehended more than 250 people. They take everything that has a relationship with iron ... We eat our onion with our fingers because we do not have a knife.”
