A group of Lancaster County high school students raised 10 acres of corn this year to help feed hungry people halfway around the world. The farming project was managed by students in an agriculture class at Garden Spot High School in New Holland, Pa. They sold their harvest this fall to raise $3,800 for a project to improve agricultural techniques in Zambia. The students contributed their earnings to Foods Resource Bank, which is a partnership of MCC and other Christian humanitarian organizations in the United States. When the students explained their project to local businesses and individuals, they were given all the seeds, fertilizer and other farming supplies they needed. "I learned that people are willing to donate a lot more than you might think," said Jared Martin, a Garden Spot senior. Click here to learn more about the Foods Resource Bank.
