Material Resources
MCC Material Resources Centers are places where volunteers can
connect to the efforts of MCC to meet the physical needs of people
in crisis. Whether it is economic, natural disaster or disaster
caused by war, shipments are prepared to meet the request of service
workers around the world.
At the material resources center items are donated by folks who
hear of the needs expressed by country representatives and service
workers and seek to meet those needs one school
kit or health
kit or newborn
kit or relief
kit at a time. These are places where the work of one's hands
becomes the gift of the heart. These are places where people who
seek to help those in need connect in a very basic and some would
say small way to the needs as expressed by the service workers in
over 50 different countries.
At the Material Resources Center in Ephrata, over 9000 volunteer
days a year demonstrate the enthusiasm and the joy that volunteering
brings. Amish, Brethren in Christ and Mennonite groups make up the
largest portion of volunteers but all are welcome. The work includes,
quilting, checking and packing kits, preparing clothing for shipment
and loading containers for shipping.
