Days of Prayer and Action for Colombia - April 27th and 28thLatin America & Caribbean The Days of Prayer and Action were born out of the concern of churches in Colombia and the United States around the military policies the United States were implementing towards Colombia. Churches in both countries recognized the need for a unified day of prayer and reflection for peace and for the voice of global Body of Christ to be heard by government. Colombian churches began asking US churches to respond in faithful witness to government in order to change US policy towards Colombia and publicly witness for a peaceful end to the war that has been going on for almost 60 years. In 2007 Canadian churches were formally invited to participate and to analyze what Canada’s role in Colombia is, and how Canadian churches might support a peaceful end to the armed conflict. This year, the Days of Prayer and Action for Colombia will be held on April 27th and 28th. Canadian and US churches are again asked by Colombian sisters and brothers to join in a day of prayer and reflection on Colombia on April 27th, followed by a day of action and faithful witness for change in governmental policy and for a just peace in Colombia on April 28th.
