On April 27th:

Invite your church to set aside worship time on Sunday, April 27th to pray with Colombian and other Canadian and US communities of faith for a just peace in Colombia and an end to the violence.

Sign up your church as a supporter of peace in Colombia.

Worship materials, including prayers, litanies, and sample sermons, as well as background pieces on Colombia will be available on the Colombia web site by the end of February. by the end of February.

On April 28th:

For those communities, churches or small groups who feel so led, join in faithful witness of the truth of Canadian policy in Colombia through advocacy initiatives to government, educational events such as forums or video showings, or public vigils for a transformation of Canada’s role in Colombia from trade focused to humanitarian focused.

More information will be placed on the on the Colombia web site with advocacy ideas, resources, and ways to engage your faith community in this important event for peace in Colombia.

First Steps

These are first steps you can start taking immediately to get ready for the Days of Prayer and Action:

  1. Sign up – go to the sign-up page to sign-up as a congregation or community and see which other congregations in your neighbourhood are getting involved.
  2. Organize a planning committee – a group that can meet regularly to discuss the worship service or other liturgical events as well as begin discerning an appropriate way to witness to government.
  3. Start learning and sharing about Colombia with resources on the MCC website, and other resources about Colombia’s struggle
  4. Get your conference on board – call or send an email to the conference coordinator letting her/him know that the Days are happening and that your congregation is supporting the event (http://directory.mennoniteusa.org/conferences.asp).
