The children talk about things they were not able to do at school, about finding out about their learning disability, about help they got and then of learning to live with the disability. It can help children who have a learning disability to feel less alone and also to give ideas to leaders of children's ministries in understanding the difficulties these children face.
Behind Glass Doors... Hannah's StoryThis 52-minute video is the story of a child who has autism, Hannah Shepherd, and her family. The family talks about the seriousness of Hannah's disability and their hard work to find appropriate help for her and also shows Hannah growing in ability at a variety of tasks.
Include UsThis 33-minute video uses catchy tunes to help children learn about including children with disabilities in their classes and at play. Although the video has not been prepared from a church perspective Sunday school and children's club leaders can certainly use parts of this video to teach the principles of inclusion in church settings. Give It AwayThis 17-minute promotional video shows how churches can begin a Friendship Ministry in their congregations for people who live with developmental disabilities. It highlights visual impairments, hearing impairments, developmental disabilities and physical disabilities. It comes from a Catholic perspective and includes a few scenes with Henri Nouven.
