MCC Canada Financial Snapshot 2006-2007MCC world-wide income was approximately $116 million this past year. Nearly 50 percent was raised in Canada through relief sales, thrift shops, donations, government grants and the sale of crafts through Ten Thousand Villages stores Financial support for MCC work has remained strong in Canada. Contributions have increased more than 5 percent from last year and by more than 20 percent from two years ago as cash and in-kind donations topped the $24.5 million mark. The MCC Global Family sponsorship program is one of the factors contributing to this growth as sponsorships were at $1.16 million – a 23 percent increase from last year. Giving for this program has tripled from what it was six years ago. MCC’s Generations at Risk campaign, which raises funds for MCC’s HIV/AIDS projects, has also received tremendous support with over $850,000 coming in this year. The strong financial picture in Canada has translated into positive numbers for MCC Canada for this fiscal year. The result is a surplus of $1.7 million as total income for MCC Canada was $43.8 million while expenses were $42.2 million. The graphs shown here provide further information on the funds received and disbursed. MCC Canada would like to gratefully acknowledge CIDA for its support of MCC’s ongoing programs in 14 developing countries and in Canada. Over $3.1 million was received by CIDA for MCC’s work in such areas as food security programs, income generation, integrated development, peace building and in reconstruction projects in the regions devastated by the 2004 tsunami.
