In 2001, the Tshikapisk Foundation commissioned the construction of a log cabin 60 kilometers east of Davis Inlet in Labrador to be used as a healing centre. It will serve the Innu people who are facing a variety of devastating social issues. Built on the shores of Lake Mistastin, the location was chosen for its cultural significance and its proximity to a traditional caribou migratory route.
