Restorative Justice

Purpose
The purpose of the MCC BC Restorative Justice initiative is to provide resources in the BC faith community about the principles and biblical basis of restorative justice and to increase awareness regarding how restorative justice is being demonstrated in the community.

What is restorative justice?
“Restorative Justice” is a buzz-word in political, cultural and religious circles, yet there is generally a lack of understanding as to what it is or its impact. In the last few decades MCC and other organizations have embraced the philosophy of restorative justice which seeks to restore relations where appropriate and break the cycle of harm.

Restorative Justice is a philosophy that views wrongdoing as an act against individuals, families, and communities, as well as against society. This approach values the voluntary involvement of the harmed person, the wrongdoer, and families in a healing process that involves dialogue, accountability, and potentially reconciliation.
