Abuse Response and Prevention Resources available from MCCIn light of recent media stories describing the reality of abuse in Christian homes and churches, you are invited to access the resources and support available through the MCC BC Abuse Response and Prevention Program. In many of our homes, the abundant life Jesus promises is impossible because of the abuse inflicted by one family member on the others. In spring 2010, we will offer a two day training session for professionals and students interested in understanding the nature of abuse in relationships. The gospel accounts of Jesus' interactions with women give inspiration for the work of the Abuse Prevention Program. The women Jesus touched and healed were in situations not unlike those of many women in our time and culture. They experienced abuse, alienation, poverty, abandonment and discrimination. In every encounter with Jesus, the result was healing, liberation and freedom. It is our hope and prayer that healing will come through the work of the Abuse Prevention Program and that abundant living won't be just a distant dream but become a reality for many.
