Here's a list of the interesting workshops you'll be able to choose from when you attend out Annual Meeting and Conference:
Opportunities and Obstacles for Untangling the Arab-Israeli Conflict. This workshop will provide an overview of issues as experienced by Palestinian Christians "on the ground" and explore Biblical illustrations that are used to explain theological frameworks which perpetuate the conflict. Presenter is Rev.Alex Awad, pastor from Bethlehem and our keynote speaker
Sharing Stories, Becoming Friends. Hear the story of one aboriginal family, the Jacobson's; how they've experienced life on Vancouver Island, how they've come to faith. This workshop will introduce an exciting new MCC resource for study groups. It will include an opportunity for discussion and interaction. The Health Race – Impact on AIDS. This interactive workshop provides a closer look at the challenges people face in attaining good health and the significance these factors have on the AIDS pandemic experienced all over the world. Presenter: Bridget Findlay, HIV/AIDS Program Coordinator, MCC BC
Abuse Prevention - the Church's Role. This workshop will review the reality of abuse in families in our congregations and will explore ways the church can respond in a redemptive way and work at prevention. Presenter: Elsie Goerzen, Abuse Prevention Coordinator, MCC BC
Social Housing Potluck. Description: Potluck allows people to bring and share, in the process those participating get fed, socialize, establish relationships and build community. By applying "potluck" to housing, churches, community members, businesses, three levels of government, MCC, MTR, etc. can all contribute in true "potluck fashion" to provide urban refugees "more than a roof" that includes affordable housing, dignity, care and community.
