Who is Chalo! for?
Groups of people from 13-30 years old who are willing to join us in this adventure of knowing more about God, people, and life!!
How does it work?
Chalo! has two main emphases:
1) Refugee and New Comers
There are millions of refugee people around the world who live their lives in fear of their safety. This focus will help us have an understanding of refugee people who now make Saskatoon home, as well as the issues refugee people face around the world.
2) Urban
The urban culture is one that many people are vaguely familiar with. This focus will help to break down misconceptions, and bring us to a larger understanding of the issues that many urban people face.
After talking about it amongst your group, pick a focus for your Chalo! time and give us a call!
What's the cost?
You choose a 3-6 day Chalo! experience. Chalo! costs will vary according to your length of time, approximately $25-30/ day / person.
This cost will cover food, accomodation, and public transportation in Saskatoon. You are responsible for your recreation, and any transportation to and from Saskatoon.
What will we do?
Depending on your focus your group could be involved in a number
of things.
- Help at a soup kitchen
- Assist with English classes for refugee people
- Explore the downtown area through a role-playing scenario
- Host fun activities for refugee children
- Learn about food security and hunger in Saskatoon
- Random acts of kindness in different communities around Saskatoon
What Else?
Everyday we will join together to talk about and reflect on the different experiences of the day.
We will join together to wrestle through what these days mean to our lives, relationships, and Christian walk by journaling, talking, worship, and bible study.
We will also have time to relax and take part in different recreation activities around Saskatoon.
