MCC helps Indonesian college students step in for fallen teachers

MCC is funding the placement of 106 Indonesian student teachers in elementary schools that lost their teachers in the tsunami of Dec. 26, 2004. These college students will complete their student teaching requirement in 20 schools in the town of Calang, Aceh province. MCC is providing $34,000 Cdn./$27,700 U.S. to the Faculty of Teaching and Education at Syiah Juala University to implement the project for six months. After graduation, the students will be eligible to be hired as regular teachers.
