MCC TSUNAMI RESPONSEFinal report to donorsOn Dec. 26, 2004 an undersea earthquake triggered a giant tsunami that swept into fishing villages and coastal towns from Indonesia to Somalia. More than 200,000 people died and millions more were affected. Donors entrusted Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) with approximately $22 million U.S. in gifts and grants to help people affected by the tsunami. MCC’s response was made possible by people like you, the Canadian government and the communities and organizations MCC had the honour to work with in India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Somalia. Thank you.
