Development Education and Engagement
It is through this program that the Canadian International Development
Agency (CIDA) provides funding to assist in the costs related to
bringing in international and local speakers, facilitators and other
resources who speak and share with the people of our province.
This concept of "engaging" our constituency through education
and action about global development issues, sharing and informing
others of MCC's international and local work continues to have a
high priority for MCC Alberta.
Highlights
- A highlight this past year was the presentations made by three
Ugandans, Gladys Oyat, Everest Bizimungu, and Rachel Nantongo,
focusing on the impact of HIV/AIDS, conflict in northern Uganda,
and Restorative Justice work with prisoners and former prisoners
- Another highlight was Jumanne Magiri's visit to Alberta, from
Tanzania, presenting in Calgary and Rosemary, focusing on Generations
At Risk and HIV/AIDS in his home country, as well as the work
of the Mennonite Church in Tanzania.
