Aboriginal Neighbours
- MCC Alberta and MCC Manitoba are helping to support a Northern Manitoba AIDS initiative called Camp Hope. The initiative works with First Nations peoples in Northern Manitoba and focuses on: HIV/AIDS prevention education; supporting and caring for those suffering with and impacted by AIDS; and advocating on behalf of First Nations peoples with AIDS for access to better health care and resources, counseling and support.
- On November 10, 2007, the Aboriginal Neighbours Program, Generations at Risk Program, and the Community Justice Ministries Program, will be hosting special guest speaker Chief Ovide Mercredi, Grand Rapids, MB, and former Assembly of First Nations Grand Chief, and Tom Jackson, actor, singer, and public speaker. The event will focus on HIV/AIDS in Canada, and among First Nations peoples in Canada, including the prison population.
