Akron Connection
Serve and Learn.
Be part of a community. Gain job experience. Learn about the world. Serve with MCC. Volunteers are at the heart of MCC’s work in the world and have been a vital part of MCC’s Akron headquarters for decades. Today, Akron Connection builds on that tradition by creating a clear educational component for all service worker positions in Akron. From a small town in Pennsylvania, learn about the world — while helping to support the international work of MCC. Volunteers play important and varied roles — from supporting the work of the International Programs department to driving trucks full of material aid that will be shipped overseas. Volunteers serve in areas such as communications, reception, housekeeping and alumni relations. Opportunities are available for volunteers of all ages, including families with children. Service unit assignments will be for one or two years and include specific educational components. At the start of new service terms, workers and their supervisors will develop an individualized learning plan. All expenses are covered, including food and lodging, travel to your assignment, medical insurance, assistance with education loans and a monthly stipend for personal expenses.
